big grin Great news! Moodle now uses your normal username and password for logons. Please let us know if you have any issues now that the login system has changed. It should make things easier for most people.

ACCOUNTS REMINDER
Hi Staff and Students, When setting up new accounts we require the following:
The username MUST be your usual SVSHS username eg, jblogs or blogsj
The email address you use MUST be your username@svshs.wa.edu.au
Your FIRSTNAME field MUST contain your REAL first name
Your SURNAME field MUST contain your REAL last name
Accounts not meeting these criteria WILL be deleted unless they have been created by staff for training purposes.

Any queries regarding these strictures should be sent to the Network Manager, Mr Spicer-Wensley by email to help@svshs.wa.edu.au

There has been an changeto the way Moodle checks your username and password - it now uses the email server here at school.

This is an attempt to make things simpler since people will use the same username and password as their normal school logon.

I'm not sure how this will affect external users (yet).

Please let me know if you have difficulties.

	There is a now a new extension to the Admin facility called Database that has been added for Administrators of the SVSHS Moodle. It is an implementation of phyMyAdmin for Moodle and it is a neat addition to the Admin Tools. It will be very handy for adding, backing-up and restoring data. Hi Everybody! big grin

Just letting you know that I've installed a PHP Accelerator that caches compiled PHP (sorry - it's what it does) and should speed up both MOODLE and the SVSHS website generally. (By between 5 and 10 times.)
Please let me know if there are any issues - unexpected happenings and annoyances.
The PHP Accelerator is the same one Martin Dougiamas (our hero - the man who made Moodle) uses and recommends so I'm not anticipating any major difficulties.
